According to Britainís Metro newspaper
Liverpool are set to make an audacious bid for either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or
Carlos Tevez after rumours surfaced that both veterans are on the move this
summer. With the signing of 29-year-old James Milner from Manchester City and
this latest news it seems there has been a shift in the Liverpool vision.
The reds slipped from a 2nd
place finish in 2014 to 6th this season after shelling out 100
million on new faces. Many of those were bought with tag of potential stars
hanging over them and failed to perform. But the shocking slide seems to have
prompted the reds board to change tact as they look to regain a place in the
UEFA Champions League.
According to reports both Tevez and
Ibrahimovic have told close advisors that they want a new challenge to end
their careers and reds boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be sniffing around.
Although the thought of having these two
running around at Anfield might have fans excited I personally donít see either
transfer happening. Apart from Metro news being known for spinning a few
porkies in their time it seems PSG want around 12 million GBP for the 33-year-old
Swede while Tevez could demand a similar price. I am sure the reds would be one
of many clubs in the queue if both stars were available on free transfers, but
I really donít think they would move so far from their current transfer policy
to splash cash on players that will almost certainly of no sell on value.
I recon Danny Ings will come in for a
nominal fee. Money will be spent on Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic with
the potential sales of Balotelli, Lambert and Sterling going towards the
signing of a new striker. Who will that be? Not Tevez or Ibrahimovic.
