He may not have been the big name striker that Liverpool fans were hoping for, but England U21 international Danny Ings says he is ready to prove he deserves to be at Anfield.
Former Nottingham Forest player Stuart Pearce branded the reds faithful as “snobby” after they questioned Ings arrival. Liverpool struggled for goals last term after the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona.
Many people think that the 22-year-old former Burnley player is another step backwards as the club looks to get back in to the Champions League. But for the man who netted seven times in the EPL last season this is just another challenge on a long road to the top of the world game.
"Of course, it is a massive achievement for me and my family," Ings said in an interview with Britain’s Daily Star.
"It is a challenge that I am really looking forward to.
"I am here at the moment and this is my main focus, but when pre-season comes along I will get my head down and work hard to be the best I can be."
Danny Ings is one four signings already this summer and it seems Brendan Rodgers is set for another busy few months before the new season kicks off in August.
